If you have had breast augmentation in the Bay Area, you may be anxious to get back to work and the normal activities of everyday life. During the healing process, you may feel up to more than your doctor recommends, but heavy lifting or other strenuous activity after breast augmentation can lead to complications that can be serious. Please check with your personal surgeon, or call our office if you are a current patient, to find out specific aftercare guidelines. The information below is only informational in nature.

Healing From Breast Augmentation

You must check with your own plastic surgeon for an individualized time line, but generally in order to avoid problems, you may need to wait 4-6 weeks following your breast surgery to do any heavy lifting or other strenuous activity. Complications that may arise from getting back to normal activity too soon can include:

  • Bleeding
  • Damage to Incisions
  • Hematomas
  • Implant Displacement
  • Implant Malposition

Each person is different, and healing times can vary, so your surgeon will give post operative instructions for your particular case. If your breast implants were placed below the muscle it can take longer to heal. Slight modifications to your lifestyle in the few weeks following your breast augmentation surgery can help ensure a good outcome.

If you have concerns about the post operative period, please make sure to discuss them with our Bay Area breast augmentation surgeon during your consultation. Please contact Bay Area Aesthetic Surgery today by calling 6505706066 to schedule a consultation with board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Liu. We serve all of the Bay Area of California, including San Francisco, San Jose, San Mateo, and the surrounding areas.
