Injectables Fillers | Bay Area Aesthetic Surgery

What are Injectables in San Jose?

Injectables are non-surgical treatments used to smooth wrinkles, restore facial volume, and enhance contours. They work by either relaxing targeted muscles to reduce the appearance of fine lines or by adding volume beneath the skin’s surface. Results are typically quick, with minimal downtime and a natural-looking rejuvenation.

BOTOX® Cosmetic

This injectable is used to temporarily immobilize your facial muscles used when you smile or frown. As you age, these muscles begin to cause lines and wrinkles due to the repeated action of forming facial expressions. BOTOX® Cosmetic is FDA-approved, takes as little as 10 minutes and doesn’t require any downtime to recover. Repeat treatments are needed every 3-4 months to maintain results.

BOTOX® Cosmetic can help reduce the appearance of:

  • Forehead lines
  • “Smoker’s lines” (lines around your lips)
  • “Crow’s feet” (wrinkles on the outer corners of your eyes)
  • Large pores
  • Symptoms of rosacea
  • Neck wrinkles and lines

BOTOX® Cosmetic can also be used to treat down-turned lips which cause you to naturally look angry or upset.

Juvederm™

Juvederm is used to help add volume to your face and is made of a high concentration of hyaluronic acid. This non-animal, smooth gel is injected into your skin and helps your body retain moisture and restore softness. Juvederm™ is great for treating acne scars, skin depressions and filling in wrinkles and lines on your cheeks. This dermal filler can be used for lip augmentation as well. The results can last up to 6 months or longer before another treatment is needed. Our team also offers Juvederm Voluma® XC.

Perlane

Perlane is another dermal filler that uses hyaluronic acid for moderate to severe lines and wrinkles. This injectable is similar to Restylane and Juvederm™, but works best for deep folds around your nose and lips. Perlane can also be used to increase volume in your lips. Your results could last 6 to 9 months or longer. Perlane is minimally invasive, takes less than 15 minutes and requires little to no down time.

What is the difference between wrinkle relaxers and dermal fillers?

Wrinkle relaxers, such as BOTOX and Daxxify, are used to treat dynamic wrinkles by temporarily relaxing the facial muscles that cause lines like crow's feet and frown lines. Dermal fillers, like Juvéderm and Radiesse, restore lost volume and smooth static wrinkles and folds, and are commonly used to plump lips, fill in hollow cheeks, or enhance the jawline.

What can I expect during a typical injectable treatment?

Injectable treatments are fast, relatively painless, and require little to no downtime. During your appointment, your provider will consult with you to understand your aesthetic goals, and then skillfully administer the injections using a very fine needle. Most sessions take just 10-30 minutes, and you can return to your normal daily activities immediately after.

How long do the results of injectables last?

The longevity of results varies depending on the specific product used and the area being treated. Wrinkle relaxers typically last three to four months, while most dermal fillers last between six months and two years. Our team will provide you with a personalized treatment and maintenance plan to help you preserve your results.

What are the most common side effects?

Side effects from injectables are typically mild and temporary. The most common side effects include minor swelling, bruising, or redness at the injection site. These usually subside quickly, often within a few hours to a day or two. Our team will provide you with all the necessary aftercare instructions to ensure a smooth recovery.

Can injectables be combined with other treatments?

Yes. In fact, many patients combine injectable treatments with other non-surgical services for more comprehensive results. For example, dermal fillers are often used with wrinkle relaxers for a 'liquid facelift' effect, or they can be combined with treatments like laser therapies and facials to improve overall skin health and texture.
