I was originally trained on the use of a power-assisted handpiece to assist the surgeon in aspirating fat with the standard liposuction technique. Then, during my training, I also instituted the use of the Vaser System (Ultrasonic Assisted Liposuction). While the Vaser system was an effective adjunct to my liposuction practice, I have essentially stopped using ultrasonic energy and proceeded with a newer technique, SmartLipo. This is a laser-assisted liposuction apparatus that not only melts the fat but also helps to tighten the skin. Most recently, I have once again returned to using Power-Assisted Liposuction developed by MicroAire, and I now combine this with the Smartlipo treatment of the fat. I truly find this combination to be most effective at contouring a patient’s body shape and creating the most impressive result yet!
